Yesterday I had out of an impulse sent two poems to Adorernauka - a bengali little magazine of North Calcutta- for their consideration and if found good then publishing. I was a lover of poetry as a literary Genre. And once upon a time I was, mayI take the liberty of saying prolific penner of poetry. I would pen down at least one poem everyother day. So much so that it had become sort of a habit. Not all of them were necessarily what would be considered as poetry, but nevertheless I would pen down those lines. And even today some of them has the elements of poetry in it to make me feel good. These daysI occassionally write. AndI had sent one of those old ones and a recent one to them for consideration.I do not know whether they would respond or not, but if they do I would once again be enthralled about what I had and want to possibly revive as feeling.
The saying goes that the key to healthy feelings in life, that is so essential to remain oneself whatever that stands for, is to be able to relive the best of oneself and not necessarily by living in the past but bringing good elements of past in the present in order to make the present more cheerful and glowing. Creativity is the key. Reminisce and create and recreate.
I would prefer to be able recreate and bring in the that glow in terms of having tried and see what fruit they bear.
I cannot resist the impulse of penning two three of my recent lines -bengali poems in english script - constrained as I am by the framework of this portal which does not have Bangla script :
" Jantronar Aagune Poore Poore / Jantranar Chayaey Ghoore Ghoore / Anandoke Phire Phire Paowa / Soonyataye Baas noye, Soonyataar Theke Uttaran/ Seyoto Jiban Dharma / Bhenge Jodi Gore Nite Chao / Nijeke Jantrona Dao ---/"
Translated into English it would sound something like this -
" Burn thyself in the blue throbbing fire of anguish/ and roam around in the halo and aura of that fire/ to Relive the delightful bliss of happiness / for the key is not continue living in the unoccupied purposeless emptiness / but to get over and grow out of it/ For that is what life demands"
Sounds like being a Thor Haeyardahl - one of the most fearless explorers of modern world , riding his Kontiki to his purposeful salvation. Well Life is no less a stormy journey for some.

A Day of Bundh - idling hours
What does a Bundh do? For one it is definitely a form of protest. But then does it mean that my right to protest should impinge upon other's right of not agreeing to the method of protest? It surely does. The example is here there and everywhere whenever, particularly in this state, a Bundh is called by the Political Party that is in Power or that has "Power". So the various Organised bodies under such situations take unanimous decision of ensuring that the right to disagree is not made manifest. Result? You have a day when most of the commercial establishments keep their units closed lestno unwanted damage takes place. And of course the general people who are not directly involved in the process get engulfed by a situation of decreed non action. The visual manifestationof this situation is that onsuch a "Bundh" day youdo not have many people venturing beyond their"Para" or "Mohalla" perimeters. And when the day is over you have one side calling it a grand success because people have participated "voluntarily" to make the Bundh a success, whereas theotherside saying what purpose did it serve?
Lo behold, theChannels would jump on the bandwagon of making hay by airing programmes where you will see a large participation fromwhat we know as renowned Personalities with benches and rows full of a number of common man faces. The microphone would be graciously held up to the lips of one such common face to voice his or her opinion, andweshall see thegreat show of participation inthe ongoing debate.
Life goes on, and Bundh goes on. The daily wage earners dafinitely have a bad day. Yet it is the daily wage earners who because of their sheer number in our country are the most used section whenever there is a call for the polity to express their opinion on the state of affairs in general. Each and every Politicianis appears so worried that this section is most deprived. What a travesty of values. Is "anybody" bothering? I guess not.

Delhi High Court's Judgement on Article 377
The Delhi High Court in it's Judgment on the sensitive subject of Homosexuality had, as being reported by Media, upheld that a part of the provision in the Article which laid down that having sexual relation between two individuals of same sex even if by mutual consent is illegal, is a violation of certain articles in the constitution that lay down the Fundamental Rights
guaranteed under Articles 14, 15, 19 & 21 of the Constitution of India of an Individaual and hence ultra vires.
guaranteed under Articles 14, 15, 19 & 21 of the Constitution of India of an Individaual and hence ultra vires.
Immediately the Religio Political Leaders had stepped in with their comments and fervent reaction as the Court by virtue of the judgement had stepped into their turf. Article 377 had termed such acts of homosexuality a punishable offence to the extent of either Life Imprisonment or Imprisonment upto Ten Years with Fine. Surprisingly the precursor of this provision was a provision introduced by Lord Macaulay nearly a hundred and fifty years ago in the Penal Code that carnal attraction and intercourse by and between individuals against the laws of the nature was a severly punishable offence.
Surprisingly it is not just moral policing, but much more than that. It is in effect peeking into or behind the closed doors of an individual's bedroom in the intimate matter of what he does or does not do on sexual preferences.
And what is more annoying and laughably frustrating is the argument given by social moral police that the judgement in effect would promote the demonstration of such preferences and thereby vitiate the family values and age long tenets on which the foundation of family lies.
The myth of such argument is self defeating in the sense that it admits that the preference exists because they fear that the judgement would promote the "Demonstration" and yet denies it's existence like the Ostrich by trying to say that don't let the matter have a rightful place in the domain of civility. Rather let it be concealed and suppressed to let it become a sore and then take the primeval action of medival era by ostrasizing the protagonists.
Do we or do we not want a society that has the right approach of selecting to agree or disagree on issues in life without the sanctimonious acrimony that we have been noticing on the media. After all we are a civilised lot.

An Individual's Capacity to apply oneself to any undertaking in the World
In one of my earlier blogs I have talked about a compulsion to write. Over these past days I feel that creativity need not necessarily have something to do with a specialised skill of Arts, or being able to create culturally.
In these blogs creative does not necessarily have to be dependant on art, science, music, literature or any of the typical definitions attached to it. It has got more to do with the desire to be alive. Aliveness refers to the individual's capacity to apply oneself to any undertaking in this world. It is about the intensity of the attitude that makes one ask oneself what can I say think feel or do to bring a sense of learning and fulfillment for me.
What follows is the myth sometimes of that of sysiphus or sometimes of that of the rise of phoenix from ashes. And I dream that someday I would be the Phoenix rising and soaring in the canopy of aliveness. Be an individual who relishes the wonderful marvel of being "alive" with all his carnate and incarnate experiences.
YOU WILL NEVER BE UNDERSTOOD ALL THE TIME
The fact is you yourself cannot understand someone all the time. Hence the prophetic statement of anguish, albeit a desperate or a resigned anguish, is ironical in so far as one would find that for alarge part of life their children are a source of bewildering perplexities, or the politicians never stick to and deliver whatever they speak of or pledge, or why ocassionally your spouse does something that is baffling and difficult to understand. The important thing is not to continue feeling frustrated or worse victimised. The clue is not being offended more often than not for not finding understandable situation. As someone had said learn thetrick of being able to shrug - not just physically, but metaphorically from your mind. It is not prudent when sometimes we see such persons or come in contact with such persons and quickly surmise that the person is a phony. To the contrary the person may be actually someone who does not have the urge or need to let the world or everyone else know who or what or where he or she is all the time. Do not always try to work on a relationship. Lying is not necessarily always immoral. It is more important in those situations of when faced with the duty of calling upon your judgement , to first ask yourself what constitutes a lie?
As Emerson had said every mind has it's own beauty, and each mind has it's own method. Let it be but it is not wise to always try and understand those methods. Good Luck....
